Currently, the price of lemons has decreased from 22,000-25,000 VND/kg to 8,000-9,000 VND/kg. The whole province has over 11,500ha of lemons, of which nearly 10,000ha are fruiting, concentrated in the districts of Long An province.
In the past few days, lemons with seeds have been purchased by traders in the garden at the price of 14,000-15,000 VND/kg, down 4,000-5,000 VND/kg; Seedless lemons are purchased at a price of 8,000-9,000 VND/kg, down 5,000 VND/kg compared to the previous month. According to traders, the low price of lemons is due to the narrowing of the consumption market and partly because the supply exceeds demand.
On average, the seedless lemon garden over 2 hectares in good season reaches over 25 tons of fruit, if the selling price is from 15,000-20,000 VND/kg.
It can be said that lemon is one of the main crops that bring high economic value to farmers in the district. However, the output is still not stable, farmers mainly still sell to traders.
Currently, the price of seedless lemon is from 8,000-9,000 VND/kg, at this price, farmers still have a profit but not high. In order to stabilize prices and help farmers produce effectively, the district's agriculture sector has promoted propaganda and mobilization of lemon farmers in the direction of VietGAP, GlobalGAP, and production linkages for more stable output and income.
According to many lemon farmers, from the beginning of 2023 until now, lemons have produced very good fruit, at one time the price of lemons in the garden reached over 25,000 VND/kg, farmers have high profits. However, about a month ago, the price of lemons decreased to 8,000-9,000 VND/kg, at this price farmers still make a profit thanks to high yield lemons.
